Antenatal Education Program

Our Antenatal Education program helps you prepare for childbirth and parenthood, covering key topics and practical information in a relaxed environment. Presented by an experienced midwife on site at Joondalup Private, the classes also provide you with the opportunity to ask lots of questions as you prepare for this special time in your life. Topics covered in these classes include labour and birth, pain relief in labour, and breastfeeding.

Classes fill quickly, so we recommend booking at around 25 weeks gestation in order to secure an attendance date between 32 - 34 weeks of your pregnancy.

For bookings & schedule enquiries, please phone (08) 9400 9200 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Antenatal Learning Centre:

Lactation Consultant

Our midwives are available at all times to help you establish a good breast feeding routine with your baby. However, we will support and encourage whichever method of feeding you choose.

If you need further assistance with breast feeding during your stay, we can arrange a visit from a lactation consultant.

This is an outpatient service and will attract a fee which may or may not be covered by your health fund. It is best to check with your fund to make sure.

Our Lactation Consultant also runs a lactation class every fortnight on a Thursday from 1pm - 3pm in the H2 Conference Room that all patients can attend without a booking. To find out more about the classes call (08) 9400 9200.

For information on how to achieve the best possible breastfeeding experience for you and your baby, please download our Breastfeeding Booklet.

Early Discharge Program

Early discharge is available for eligible families who prefer to go home early (rather than the Quest). This in-home support encompasses breastfeeding education, baby checks and weighs and post-natal advice.

Antenatal Physiotherapy Workshops: Our two hour workshops run by a physiotherapist will teach you how to best care for your body during pregnancy and after the birth of your baby.

Postnatal Physiotherapy: Physiotherapy can assist in your recovery after having your baby. Our ward physiotherapist can offer assistance with a number of issues including, regaining muscle strength, management of back, pelvic and tail bone pain, urinary and bowel incontinence and your baby's physical development.

The Physiotherapy Department also offer free postnatal physiotherapy information sessions and conducts on-site postnatal aqua classes for mums and babies from eight weeks post-natal. For more information on these classes and to book, call the Physiotherapy Department reception on (08) 9400 9430.
