Antenatal Education Program

Joondalup Private Hospital’s free in-person birth and early parenting class will guide you and your partner through the journey of pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood.

Led by an experienced midwife, the class covers:

• Preparing for both vaginal and caesarean births, including what to expect during the three stages of labour.
• Understanding the mechanics of birth and common changes in the later stages of pregnancy.
• Pain relief options, including epidurals, and an overview of induction labour—why and how it’s done.
• Newborn care in the first days of life, including information about paediatricians and newborn vaccines.
• What to pack for your hospital stay (for you, your partner, and your baby).
• Information on breastfeeding and lactation consultant support.
• Our hospital discharge process and follow-up appointments with your obstetrician and paediatrician.
• Birth suite and ward tour, including when to contact the birth suite.

Our class provides an open, welcoming space where all questions are relevant, ensuring you and your partner feel fully prepared for the big day. It’s also a great place to meet other people who are due to give birth around the same time as you.

Cost: Free for expectant parents giving birth at Joondalup Private Hospital.

Location: H2 Conference Room, 2nd Floor Joondalup Private Hospital.

Catering: Tea and coffee, morning tea and lunch are provided free of charge.

• Classes run monthly 10am-3pm on a Saturday.
• Best time to attend: Between 30-35 weeks of pregnancy.
• Bookings are essential. Please book early as class sizes are limited.
