Federal Government announces $158 million for Joondalup Health Campus

Federal Minister for Finance Senator the Honourable Mathias Cormann and other senior Ministers in the Turnbull Government visited Joondalup Health Campus (JHC) on Thursday 26 April 2018 and announced the Commonwealth Government will contribute $158 million towards the hospital expansion.

The announcement follows discussions between the Federal Government and the WA State Government, which in 2017 pledged $167 million for the upgrade.

The WA Deputy Premier; Minister for Health; Mental Health, the Honourable Roger Cook MLA also attended with local members.

Based on current discussions, it is now proposed that Joondalup Health Campus gets:

  • 90 additional public beds
  • 75 new mental health beds
  • a new stroke unit
  • three cardiac catheter laboratories
  • a new 25 bed Coronary Care Unit
  • an ambulatory care centre
  • an urgent care centre
  • an expansion of the Emergency Department
  • six new operating theatres and a hybrid operating theatre
  • a Medihotel facility
  • expanded back of house support areas
  • expanded car park facilities.
